My thoughts

First post!

First post and I am very excited!

I wanted to have a blog on the website to drop my thoughts and ideas down - help give you, reading this, a little more insight into me and who I am as a person and as a clinician, so you can make an informed decision whether or not you want to work with me, contact me, or just continue to read my musings.

First of all I want to acknowledge and thank the input and support of Nigel Durrant who pretty much made the whole website (I did a few artistic bits and also the text content). I did start to learn how to code but it would have taken me years to learn what I would need to build this from scratch. Whenever I get stuck (pretty often!) he is always available to help. So it is he who deserve the credit for this website and it is important to me to thank those people for their own work and contributions. Networking and knowing when to seek help/advice is important for everyone at every stage of their lives. It's how we grow and develop and I have become very good at networking. Like most things - it takes practice to hone the skill so that you get the most out of it but it is well worth the investment! Take it from me ;-)

So, a little about Empower-Mental. As the name suggests, I believe in personal empowerment. Each individual I work with is the solution to their own problems. My role is to help guide you and support you through your solutions so that you experience a better quality of life. My approach is wholistic and I possess a range of tools and expertise to work with individuals in a way that best meets their needs. I have worked with individuals and I have worked with teams.

I work in the NHS as well as private practice.

There are many merits to the NHS, but it has its limitations. My hope was to use my skills and expertise to offer affordable services to people who need more than what the NHS can offer, but can not afford the fees of a private psychiatrist. I sit in a happy middle and this is how I intend to bridge the gap between NHS and private practice.
